Save the Date: Concerts and PYP Exhibition Night

Dear WIS Community,

This week in the Primary we were treated to two wonderful concerts showcasing the talents of our Early Years and Lower Primary students. Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and education assistants who went the extra mile to make these events a big success. Your hard work and dedication are very much appreciated!

Mark your calendars for the Grade 4-6 concert now scheduled for June 18th at 6pm. With the help of parent volunteers  and teachers, students have been  rehearsing on Saturday mornings to prepare an entertaining show for families.

Another important upcoming date is the Grade 5 PYP Exhibition opening night on May 20th. All parents are welcome to attend. The Exhibition is the culminating project for students completing the Primary Years Programme. It allows them to demonstrate the transdisciplinary skills and knowledge they have developed over their primary school years. The Exhibition represents a rite of passage and graduation from the PYP before moving on to the Middle Years Programme.

Even if you don't have a 5th grader, the PYP Exhibition is an incredible experience to witness the action, research, and presentations students create around issues they are passionate about. Last year's exhibitions covered topics like animal poaching, pollution, gender equality and more. We can't wait to see what this year's group shares with the community! Here's a sneak peek at some of the social issues and global topics students are inquiring into for their Exhibition…

To end, I can’t resist sharing this delightful picture of our Grade 2 trip to Naankuse this morning, supported and organised by our lovely parents! Thank you!

Warm regards,

Marcelle van Leenen | Primary School Principal
