INVITATION FOR UNDERSTUDIES

UNAM-WIS International School-Based Understudy Fellowship

Are you training to be a teacher? Do you value international-mindedness and a student-centred approach to teaching? Do you want to develop a professional toolkit of strategies and resources which you will utilise for a career in education - the world’s greatest profession?

 

The University of Namibia and Windhoek International School have entered into a memorandum of understanding where selected UNAM understudy fellows may complete all actions required for UNAM students’ Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 observations and co-teaching. Windhoek International School is seeking understudies to be placed in our school located on Scheppmann Street in Pioneers Park Extension 1. 

 

We are therefore inviting students that are studying to become teachers in the following areas to apply as understudies through UNAM in the following areas:

  • Science Lab Technician X 1

  • Secondary Physical and Health Education X 1

  • Secondary Mathematics X 2

  • Secondary Portuguese Language X 1

  • Primary School French Language X 1

  • Secondary French Language X 1

  • Secondary German Language X 1

  • Secondary History / Individuals & Societies X 1  

  • Secondary Biology X1

  • Secondary Business Studies & Economics X 1

  • Secondary Physics X1

  • Secondary Geography X1

  • Secondary English X 1

  • Secondary Science X 1

  • Secondary Chemistry X 1

 

Eligibility: This fellowship is only available to Namibian citizens and students enrolled in the UNAM School of Education. 

 

Application deadline: 27 January 2023.

 

Applications must include the following:

  1. Email your Cover Letter, Resume, and a scanned copy of university transcript grades, addressed to the WIS Understudy Selection Committee at understudies@wis.edu.na. The cover letter must answer the question prompt: “What motivates you to become a great teacher? 

  2. A confidential letter of recommendation must be sent directly from a member of the UNAM Faculty of Education to understudies@wis.edu.na

 

This prestigious fellowship is designed to link some of today’s top international educators with the next generation of Namibia’s greatest primary and secondary teachers. 

 

The fellowship comes with a transportation stipend as follows: 

  1. Phase 1 students: N$40. 00 per day not to exceed N$600. 00

  2. Phase 2 students: N$40. 00 per day not to exceed N$800. 00

  3. Phase 3 students: N$40. 00 per day not to exceed N$1,600. 00
