WORKING AT WIS

Work @ WIS

Since the year of Namibia’s independence in 1990, Windhoek International School has provided a transformational quality of education within a stimulating environment of academic excellence, cultural diversity, and active social responsibility.

We are searching for passionate, inspiring, and experienced educators.
Teachers and staff at WIS are professional, fun-loving, and representative of the diverse and international ethos of our learning community. We know that students learn best when they feel known, challenged, and supported by adults they admire and respect - surrounded by an institution that insists on both excellence and kindness. The school has 80 teachers, educational assistants, specialists, and administrators who hold around 20 different passports. Most have over 10 years of experience teaching at International Baccalaureate schools. Namibia is an amazing place to live and work, and staff typically stay at the school for many years.

Are you ready to join Windhoek International School?
If you decide to join the WIS community, you will soon find that the school’s mission and values are woven throughout the fabric of this very special and global learning community. As the only International Baccalaureate school in Namibia, we look for educators with a growth mindset who embody the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.

Windhoek International School is an equal-opportunity employer. Preference, however, is given to equally qualified citizens or permanent residents of Namibia who are from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. The school abides by a published salary and credit scale and staff at WIS benefit from a pension contribution, the school’s medical insurance scheme (NMC), and Windhoek’s high quality of life and low cost of living.  The school conducts rigorous background checks for all new hires and upholds a strong child protection policy in all daily operations.

Our current vacancies are listed below. You may apply for any of these positions by sending your cover letter, resume, and the contact details of at least three referees addressed directly to the HR Officer, Lagia Kandjibi, at vacancies@wis.edu.na

The school also utilizes Search Associates, Teacher Horizons, and the Global Recruitment Collaborative. If you apply to the school via one of these platforms then there is no need to also apply by email. Applications for all openings are considered by the hiring committee on a rolling basis, as they are received.

*Windhoek International School was one of the very first schools to pilot the IB's Primary Years Programme and has offered the IB Diploma Programme since the 1990s. The school is transitioning to the IB Middle Years Programme, with May 2025 being the first year that Grade 10 students will take the MYP eAssessment rather than the IGCSE examinations. As such, professional experience within the International Baccalaureate continuum is desired but not essential.
