Relationships: A Cornerstone of WIS

Dear WIS Community,

Relationships play a big role in shaping our school culture and enhancing the learning journey of our students. Thank you to all the parents who participated in today’s Learner Portrait of My Child conferences. I hope you found these to be a unique opportunity for you to connect with your child's teacher, share your aspirations for their growth, and form an essential partnership in their education. Strong home-school relationships lay the foundation for a child's success and your involvement and dedication make a difference.

The importance of relationships doesn't end there. We are happy to invite you to the upcoming picnics arranged by our homeroom teachers. These gatherings offer a chance for families to come together, fostering a sense of community that enriches the school experience for both students and parents. Please refer to the dates below and join us for these enjoyable events.

In our classrooms, building relationships and cultivating a positive classroom culture are intentional and ongoing processes. Teachers are actively working with students to establish essential agreements and class values that create a respectful and supportive learning environment. As part of this initiative, our Grade 4 and 5 students went on a successful team-building day at Farm Windhoek earlier this week.

We hope to see you at our upcoming Back-to-School Night next week, where we look forward to meeting you and sharing insights into the year ahead. Additionally, we encourage you to visit the Primary Learning Hub at any time – our doors are always open to parents who wish to engage with our vibrant learning community.

Thank you for your support in nurturing positive relationships and a thriving school culture at WIS!

Warm regards,

Marcelle van Leenen

Primary Principal
