Meet Ms. Indonesia Garoes - our new EY 3 Educational assistant

Welcome to WIS! What would you like us to know about you?

I am Indonesia from Mariental, Namibia. I was fortunate enough to have a close-knit family and friends because I was fortunate enough to grow up in a rural location. The people in my family and my two incredible employers, who are both teachers, have greatly influenced who I am today. I have a great sense of humour and am a really happy person.

Could you tell us a little about your philosophy of education?

My commitment to educating students of all levels includes assisting them in developing independent study habits. Students will succeed if they persevere and work hard in my opinion. I try to bring a cheerful attitude, an open mind and high expectations for my pupils to the classroom because I believe that teaching is a process of learning from students, colleagues, and parents. To guarantee that every student can thrive in a setting where they belong, all impediments to learning should be removed.

People often like to know their teacher’s academic background and professional experiences. What and where have you studied? What and where have you worked?

I attend Namibian College of Open Learning, or NAMCOL for short. In November, I will have earned my Early Childhood Development Certificate. Being a teacher was never something I ever really deliberated doing, but then I met two excellent teachers who later served as my employers. My love for kids began when they gave me their little child and their trust. I have 5 years of experience raining kids professionally and lovingly as a nanny and housekeeper.

What do you do when you're not teaching? :

I've always enjoyed doing duties around the house even as a youngster, so I listen to loud music as I clean.

  • I cook while watching TV

  • I spent a lot of my free time studying and reading.

Why did you choose WIS?

I originally came to WIS as a student for my practicum, but I soon realised that this was an excellent opportunity to show off my skills and learn new things from the teachers as well as the students. I saw that WIS is an Inclusive and diverse school that offers instructors and students a variety of educational support services and teaching instruments.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know about you?

I am very excited to join the WIS Community officially. Looking forward to a journey full of learning and laughter.
