Community Workshop Responsible Social Media Use for Kids- Protecting Your Children in the Digital Age

Dear WIS Community,

After a very successful turn-out at our last community workshop on the use of digital devices, we are now hosting another community workshop Responsible Social Media Use for Kids- Protecting Your Children in the Digital Age. The workshop will be led by Nrupesh Soni, WIS parent.

Please come and join us on Thursday 4th of April at 6 pm in the staff room. Here is an overview of what will be covered (many thanks to Nrupesh!)

In our digital age, social media is a double-edged sword, offering vast opportunities for learning, connecting, and expressing creativity, while also posing significant risks to the mental health and safety of our children. This workshop aims to equip parents and guardians with the knowledge and tools to foster healthy social media habits in their children, ensuring they reap the benefits of digital platforms without falling prey to their pitfalls.

  • Exploring Dual Nature: A balanced discussion on the positive aspects and potential risks of social media usage.

  • Recognizing Risks: In-depth look at cyberbullying, mental health impacts, addiction, privacy concerns, and the influence on academic performance.

  • Scenario Roleplay: Engage in practical role-play scenarios to better understand how to support children facing cyberbullying or exposure to inappropriate content.

  • Advice for Healthy Usage: Practical tips on encouraging open dialogue, setting time limits, promoting positive interactions, and the importance of privacy education.
