Windhoek International School was invited by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Windhoek to participate in a Canned Food drive to mark Nelson Mandela Day on 18th July. We were very happy to participate but, of course, the 18th July falls right in the middle of our long break between school years.
So, with the agreement of UNIC, the school community – students, staff and parents – swung into action and quickly collected as many cans as we could before the end of the year.
We handed them over on Tuesday 20th June to Mr. Samuel Kapepo of the Ombilli Community Centre in Katatura in the presence of Ms. Aisha Shahbaz and other representatives of UNIC.
