The Role of the Library and the Resource Room
The aim of the school library program is to provide an inviting, supportive learning environment and services that support and enhance teaching, literacy, and learning. The librarian works in collaboration with teachers, administrators, support staff and parents, to provide learning experiences that promote student growth.
We also have a very well-stocked resource room that supports the teachers and students in learning with multiple ranges of materials including books, mathematics and language manipulatives, and resources, as well as unit related resources.
The librarian is a collaborative team member in the PYP and collaborates with teachers. Students learn information and referencing skills, and how to use a database to find information. Approaches to Learning skills - social, communication, research, self-management and thinking skills are encouraged to be used.
Students develop and model the IB learner profile attributes and make connections through children's literature.
